Twenty-one year Local 19 member Luis Rodriguez of New York Frozen Foods is a very proud husband. In February his wife Hortensia became a certified lay ecclesial Minister following nine years of formal studies. She will now be able to fulfill her life long dream of serving her parish, St. Michael the Archangel.

Luis Rodriguez is an oven operator at New York Frozen Foods in Bedford Heights. Luis is a dedicated employee who enjoys his co-workers. He and Hortensia have 3 daughters ages 7, 12 & 19 and are a closely knit family. They enjoy being active in their community and their parish. Michael Didio is the son of Doug and Bev Didio. Doug is a 25 year Local 19 member who works as a baker at Borally's Catering. Michael is a student athlete at Holy Name High School where he has a 3.4 grade point average and is a starting wide receiver on the football team. He began playing football in the 4th grade and it continues to be his favorite sport. Michael had 5 catches for 193 yards this past season as a freshman. He will run track in the spring.

2010 RETIREES BUS TRIPS

Thursday, May 6, 2010 - Police Dog Training and Railroad Museum

We will visit a nationally recognized canine training center where we will see demonstrations in the techniques used by the dogs and their trainers. We will also visit the largest railroad museum in Ohio. Lunch will be enjoyed in the privacy of a historic home where we will be served by a costumed wait staff. Reservations due by April 23, 2010.

Cost: Member $60.00 - Spouse $60.00 - Non-Member $83.00

Wednesday, June 2, 2010 - Rivers Casino

It's time to put your luck to the test! Join us for an afternoon of gambling at the newly opened Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Reservations due by May 21, 2010.

Cost: Member $20.00 - Spouse $20.00 - Non-Member $35.00

Wednesday, July 7, 2010 - Meadows Casino

Travel to Pennsylvania with us to check out the Meadows Casino. If you went with us last year it is not the same casino this year, they have moved to their permanent home. Reservations due by June 25, 2010.

Cost: Member $20.00 - Spouse $20.00 - Non-Member $35.00

Tuesday - Wednesday, August 17th - 18th, 2010 - Belterra Casino Resort & Spa

Spend the night at Belterra Casino Resort and Spa. Included at the casino is a breakfast and dinner buffet. We will also enjoy lunch on a scenic riverboat cruise. Reservations due by July 9, 2010

Cost: Member $140.00 - Spouse $140.00 - Non-Member $161.00 (price based on double occupancy)

Member $180.00 - Spouse $180.00 - Non-Member $201.00 (price based on single occupancy)

Member $130.00 - Spouse $130.00 - Non-Member $151.00 (price based on triple occupancy)

All Non-Members must be traveling with a member of Local 19

Reservations are based on a first come first served basis. In order for you to reserve your seat on a trip you will need to send in a check made payable to Bakers' Local No. 19. The date on the check should be the "Reservations due by date" for the trip you would like to attend. Make out separate checks for each trip that you would like to go on. Include with your check(s) the name(s) and birth dates (if a gambling trip) of anyone that you are bringing with you. If the person you intended to bring on the trip cannot make it you must call with the name of the person replacing them prior to the date of the trip and pay any differences in costs. I will send out the itinerary for the trip 2 weeks prior to the trip. Trips will be cancelled on the "Reservation due by date" if there is not the required number of people signed up for the trip. GET A RETIRING CARD
WHEN YOU LEAVE YOUR JOB
Be sure you request a Retiring Card when being laid off, going on a personal leave or terminating employment. It is your responsibility to obtain a Retiring Card, so please take care of it as soon as possible after leaving the company so that you will not be obligated to pay extra dues. The charge for the card is $2.00, and all initiation fees and back dues must be paid before the Retiring Card can be issued.
Failure to request a Retiring Card as soon as you leave employment may result in your having to pay dues for months during which you did not work.
LEGAL ASSISTANCE
As a service to our members, the Union provides free legal advice with the law firm listed below. To avail yourself of this service, simply call the firm listed below and identify yourself as a member of Local 19. Your phone call will then be assigned to an attorney who will attempt to advise you of your options. If a simple phone call is not sufficient to resolve the problem, you may wih to retain the services of the law firm to help you, however, there is no obligation to do so.
