blood04.jpg - 34131 Bytes March 2nd marked the first of ten blood banks
sponsored by Local 19's C.E.R. Fund in conjunction
with LifeShare Community Blood Services. This is
the first year that the American Red Cross was not
utilized for these events, largely due to their recent
unfriendly attitude with Unions nationally.

This year's events are once again being held at
locations all over Ohio in areas where the greatest
concentration of Local 19 members work and live.
Over 2,000 Union members attended last year's
blood banks and we anticipate another great
turnout this year.

Our Local 19 members are to be commended for
always making these events successful for their
various communities. Everyone who participates
in this year's Local 19 blood bank will receive a
very thorough donor exam which in many cases
will detect otherwise unknown health problems
such as high blood pressure or symptoms of other
illnesses. All Local 19 members who attend one of
this year's blood banks will receive a Local 19 t-shirt
and in most cases a day's pay from their employer
for their participation.

Tim Fadel Joins the Law Firm
of Wuliger, Fadel & Beyer

In January of this year William Fadel, Local 19's Attorney, was proud to announce that his son Tim would be teaming up with him for all of the Union's future legal interests. Tim has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Dayton and a Law Degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law where he was a member of the Dean's list and Managing Editor of the Cleveland State Law Review. He has worked for the United States Northern District Court and also as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Cuyahoga County where he prosecuted hundreds of felony cases ranging from drug cases to murders and rapes. William Fadel has served as Local 19's Attorney since 2006. During that time Mr. Fadel has done an outstanding job representing both the Union and its' membership and we are sure that the addition of his son Tim will only strengthen Local 19's position in all future litigation.

Bakery Workers
Do Their Part for
Cancer Research

Nancy Engelhardt of Nickles Bakery in Navarre, Ohio has, with the help of her co-workers, raised over $40,000.00 in just the past 5 years to help find a cure for cancer. Nancy and the other employees at Nickles have printed two recipe cookbooks. The most recent of which contains over 350 different recipes in all categories along with a history of the Bakery, which celebrated it's 100th year of operation in 2009. In addition to the cookbooks, Nancy and her friends also sold Christmas ornaments around the holidays with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society. Nancy is a 28 year Local 19 member who frequently helps out at the Union's Christmas party.
